#Bad #Mix

Hello internets! This blog comes to you in wake of my transitioning back to day job and part-time musician. It really intrigues me that people are reading my blog all over the world. I see hits from France, Germany, all over Europe!

Anyway, I want to talk a little bit about mixing. Mixing is an artform that not many engineers get a chance to be excellent at because the artists that are able to pay for studio time don't spend enough money on having their project mixed correctly. Most of the time the artist spends money writing in the studio when their material should already be memories. Countless amounts of times, I've been at live shows and instrumentals & backing tracks that artists sing/rap/ play over sound horrible! And when it comes to live sound, if the bass is too heavy, not enough mids, or too much highs- there are a few tricks that a live engineer can tweak on the mixer... but we are musicians and not magicians! Go back to the studio and get those frequencies right before you present that to the public!

That is all for now. Peace to Jerusalem
